Who are the wizards to deny Ms Spears when at the end of the last podcast, she could once again be heard murmuring “so, give me more, oh give me more, a little more, a little more…”?

alright, alright, we’ll record another one
Yes, the lockdown duo are back with another show that brings its usual mix of old and new, pink and blue, and, er, false and true. No idea what that means, but who reads this nonsense anyway? What is certain is that we have an exclusive play of a track from a rock legend, a record number of listeners writing in (not just to complain), and, at the halfway mark, the wizards’ favourite albums of the year so far.
You can find all that right here, and down there:
Turn away now if you don’t want to know what’s coming up. Otherwise, here’s what we played:

- The Terrifying Experience – Untitled
- St. James Infirmary – Like A Boy Detective
- Hollow Threats – House Arrest
- The Bangles – Following
- Paul Jones – The Dog Presides
- Hulaboy – Part-Time Goth
- Babybird – Twilight Of Our Lives
- Snowgoose – Everything
- Benny Profane – Devil Laughing

Another good show, gents. I can confirm that Bangles’ version of September Gurls is indeed rather good – I think that may be how I first heard the song. My dog slept through the barking on the Paul Jones as she’s now pretty deaf, which comes in handy when she sits with me as I play music while working… Oh, and fab to hear Benny Profane again. I first came across them when they supported The Fall on consecutive nights at the Town & Country Club in December ’88
Thanks, Will. The other band on that Liverpool comp that had me go back through my collection was Magic Carpets. I played their only album, Guided Naffi Missile, for the first time for decades last night and reckon it stands up pretty well: another recommendation if you’ve not heard it.
Never heard or even heard of them! Sound good from the little I’ve now managed to hear – somehow they’re not on any of the multiple Liverpool comps I’ve got
