Ooh, I think I know this one. Fame is co-written with John Lennon and Paul McCartney has a credit on The SFA album Rings Around The World, so I am guessing he’s on this track, although I couldn’t hear where. It’s a fab link!
Great stuff Kicker, accompanying Beatles is the link.
John co-wrote and sings backing vocals on Fame.
Inspired by some Beach Boys song which featured Paul crunching vegetables, SFA recorded him chewing celery for this track. I’ve never been able to hear Macca’s contribution myself but it’s an effing brilliant song all the same.
Friend of the pod, Daphne du Lait, tells me that Luther Vandross is all over the Young Americans LP and presumably Fame. Is he by chance heard eating a double cheeseburger on the SFA track too?
No but he did make a cameo appearance on our podcast number 16.
Late to the party, but I wanted to thank you all for posting the “Fame” video. As always, Bowie looks like the coolest man in the world, even as he’s doing the least convincing lip-syncing I’ve ever seen.
Damn right Mr Vamp. Good to hear from you. By the way, can you confirm the wizards’ suspicions that you have a Bowie-esque look about you?
Bowie-esque? Maybe in the next life. Too many pounds and too little cool in this one.
